Brian Bender, Partner and President

Prior to Founding JetHead in 2003, Mr. Bender was the founder and president of PropHead Development, Inc. in 1994. PropHead was acquired in 2000 by AOL/Time Warner. PropHead developed STB Software for Hughes Network Systems for their successful DIRECTV STB. PropHead also developed components for SONY, Hitachi, and other major OEM DIRECTV STB.

Mr. Bender holds degrees in Computer Science from The University of California, Riverside and was Alumni of year for the Bourns School of Engineering at UCR in 2008.

Prior to PropHead, Mr. Bender developed Earl Weaver Baseball for the PC for Electronic Arts. This products was the flagship product for Electronic Art sports division for years.

Ben Payne, Partner and COO

Ben Payne has been working with Embedded Systems for his entire career. Starting out as software developer and architect, he played key roles in the development of the first DIRECTV Advanced Program Guide settop box, and one of the first DIRECTV HD receivers. Later working with AOL and TimeWarner Cable’s MystroTV, he developed middleware and several applications for primarily Cisco settop boxes. In 2003 he founded JetHead with the role to head up the engineering team. He started with a team of 5 engineers and has grown that team to over 50. In that time he has transitioned from writing code to managing the teams. He is a forward looking leader, with his eye on building quality software with a quick time to market.

David Bye, VP Marketing and Business Development

Prior to joining JetHead, Mr. Bye was a marketing manager for the Consumer Business Unit of STMicroelectronics Inc. where he focused on the design-in of chipsets for digital STB, DVD and HDTV. Mr. Bye worked for ST since their acquisition of INMOS Ltd in 1986, where he previously worked on 32-bit RISC CPU designs. Mr. Bye brings with him, experience in Parallel Processing, Image Processing, DSP, Video/Audio compression/decompression, Computer Graphics Solutions, Complex SOC design, HDTV, DVD, Security processing, Tuners/Demodulators and a wide variety of STB hardware and software solutions. Mr. Bye received a B.Sc. in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from Manchester University (England) and an MBA from the University of San Diego (California, USA).

John Roosendaal, VP and GM (AT&T Business Unit)

Since 1996, John has worked in engineering, marketing, and management roles related to the development and deployment of video, RF, and networking hardware and software solutions for set-top-boxes, cable modems, mobile phones and video surveillance products. John received his BSEE from UC San Diego and his MBA from CSU-San Marcos.
